Hello from Ian and Alison Muirhead!

We have been associated with Teewah since building there in 1994. We have always had a keen interest in all aspects of this beautiful area – the beach, the bush, the plants and associated creatures. We’ve been involved in many environmental programs in several areas including Fraser Island where we have worked with turtles and on several weed control projects with the rangers on a voluntary and contract basis.

This website allows us to share some of Alison’s photos and gives you the opportunity to contribute some of your own. We hope you enjoy it.

This site is a work in progress – some categories are well represented, others are basic. With your help, we will develop the collection over time. We particularly need good photos of animals, reptiles, wildfires, clouds and sunsets, butterflies, frogs and any living thing that is interesting or unusual! Contributions will be selected on the basis of quality and appropriateness for this nature website. All published images will be credited.

Where possible, the identifications of plants and animals have been confirmed by experts. including the Qld Herbarium. We are still working on finding the correct names for many photos. If you do spot an error or know a correct name, please report it via our Contact page so that we can make changes.

Acknowledgements

We thank Lorraine Pestell and Claire Davidson for helping establish this website, and staff of the Queensland Herbarium for reviewing our plant identifications, as far as is possible from photographs.

Peter Lowe has kindly made available his extensive library for our use, and we thank him for that.
